Convict hire ledgers, 1885-1913.

This series records amounts due to the state by companies for the hire of convict labor. The ledger records the date, the reason for the account debit, and the amount. An index to account names is included. The ledgers include a record of the "Inspectors of Convicts" cash account, the "convict system" cash account, and the name of each company that hires convicts and their financial accounts. Included are the names of lumber companies, coal and iron companies, and railroads.
